Frequently Asked Questions

Newborn Photography is an exciting and unique concept.

Here are the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) we often receive before a newborn photography session. This should give you a good overview of what to expect during your newborn photography sessions.

However, please feel free to contact us if we have left any questions unanswered for you.

When should I book my newborn session?

To better serve our clients, we only book a limited number of sessions per month. As most of our clients are expectant mommies, we need to keep our schedule as flexible as possible.

The best time to book your session is as soon as you have a due date. To schedule a session it is recommended to get in touch with us during your pregnancy.

Simply send us a message through our page with your due date, and we will reserve a session in our schedule for about 1 week after your due date.  Then, when baby actually arrives, we can tweak the date and time if needed to ensure we get your new little one in for a session during the ideal time frame around 7-14 days old.  But book now to ensure that we will have a spot reserved for capturing those sweet newborn photos for your baby!

Both a signed contract and non-refundable downpayment (Php 5,000) are required to reserve your session.

What age is best for newborn photos?

The ideal time to have a newborn session is within 7-14 days (we can photograph babies up to 6 weeks new) from your baby’s birth. During this time, your little one still has the “curl”, which simply means her arms and legs still curl up easily. After two weeks he or she will make a big jump in growth and her arms and legs will stretch out more. Also within the first 10 days, your baby falls into this so-called “deep sleep” after being fed. That way we can wrap him/her easily into blankets or move his/her arms and legs around without disturbing his/her too much. They sleep for much longer periods as well.

After a few weeks your baby will start to be more active and tries to look around as it is starting to develop her sight more and more. Don’t get us wrong, after 2 weeks you can still get gorgeous images, just slightly different poses. But there are other ways to photographing a slightly older baby and your images will be equally as beautiful.

What if I have an older newborn?

It is essential that babies are between 7 and 14 days old, when they are very sleepy and easy to pose, to get the best possible photos. After 2 weeks you can still get gorgeous images, however, the typical newborn poses most likely won’t be possible. But there are other ways to photographing a slightly older baby and your images will be equally as beautiful.

What to Expect?

The session with baby only takes about 2-3 hours, additional 30 minutes if we are doing Family Session too. We keep the area warm for baby, so we advise parents to please dress light clothes during the newborn session. Here is our What to Wear Guide for suggested outfit / color palette should you want to join the photoshoot. Also, we might need your hands to help hold the baby on their lovely poses, but other than that, you can just sit back and relax.

How long will the Newborn session last? If a session takes longer, what happens then?

A  single newborn session normally lasts around 2-3 hours or sometimes could be 4 hours. As you simply cannot direct a small newborn, we adapt to his or her schedule. So if baby doesn’t want to sleep or is a bit cranky and you will need to attend to his/her needs, then that is more than okay. We will have plenty of time to capture your precious one. In the rare occasion that the session does take longer than four hours, we will need to make a decision ahead of time. Usually after 2 hours we know where we stand and how much we have managed to capture up to this point. So we can discuss whether another hour after the 3-4 hours is necessary. We will make this decision together. Additional rate per hour applies should you wish to extend.

How much does it cost?

Where will we hold the session? Do I come to your studio?

We are a mobile studio and we do on-location photoshoot. Newborn photo sessions can be held within your home (a room with lots of natural light will do). This is for parent’s convenience and most especially for baby’s safety since you do not need to travel.

What should I expect during the session?

  • We spend a lot of time waiting for the baby to get into a deep sleep. This process can take awhile – there is no rush!

  • We take a lot of breaks for feeding and cuddling. Just make sure the baby is well fed.

  • We recommend that we turn the AC off especially if baby is not wrapped on certain poses/set up.

  • The photographer and stylist work to find the best poses for your baby. All babies are different – some babies will do some poses and not others.

  • Breathe and have fun! The most fabulous newborn portraits happen when everyone is tension free and having a great time. We’ll take care of getting the baby happy and comfortable; a parent’s job is to just relax and let us “do our thing.”

Who will provide the props? What should I bring?

All props and set ups are provided by us. We have carefully selected a beautiful array of props, wraps and blankets that photograph beautifully and suit our clean, timeless style. We also require that you provide us your preferred color palette so we know what props to bring.

However, if you want to provide your own props / you have special request / you want to incorporate your profession as theme / APAS injections you want to use as props we are happy to set it up for you!

Who can join the session?

We all know that the newborn baby is the star of the Newborn Session, but there’s no need to leave out the supporting members of the cast! Mom, Dad and the siblings are all important subjects as well. You can avail our Extended Family Session should you wish to include family members in the portrait.

We highly encourage that both mom and dad could join the portrait. Capturing the interaction of your first born with your newborn can be quite emotional and unique! Sometimes it's just nice to have an extra pair of hands around.

If siblings will join the portrait, we require that we begin the pictorial with siblings shots.  Just photographing the newborn alone usually takes 2-4 hours, and sometimes the toddler-aged siblings don't last that long just watching.

How long will it take to get my order?

raw photos will be ready for viewing and selection 3 to 5 days after the session. Please select photos immediately as we can only start editing/retouching when you advised us with selected photos. Your completed gallery will be ready for downloading within 4-6 weeks after selection was done. NOTE : Our turnaround time may vary during busy times of year.

Each images are carefully edited and requires a lot of work depending on baby's look during shoot (ie. yellowish / uneven skin tones / flaky newborn skin etc.). We deliver quality images, and so hand-editing for each images is crucial part of the post process.

However, we will provide you with one or two sneak peek images shortly after the session, so you have something to share with your family and friends immediately.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my session?

Sessions can only be rescheduled one time at no cost and still subject on availability of our calendar.

We are from outside Metro Manila. Do you travel?

Yes, we love to travel for our sessions. Please message us for a quote and to discuss your ideas.

What should I pay attention to prior to the session? How do I prepare?

Here’s our On-the-day Preparation Guide :

  1. On the day of our photoshoot, it is best to bath your baby an hour before the shoot.

  2. Wrap only with a receiving blanket, with diaper on. Make sure wrap is enough to keep baby warm and comfortable. So we won’t unnecessarily disturb your baby by removing the clothes during sleep.

  3. These things should be readily available near the session area : 2 blankets that you don't mind getting pee or poo on, burp pad, alcohol, at least 2 pcs diaper and wet wipes.

  4. Feeding ahead of time: Kindly feed the baby right before the session so they will be sleepy by the time we start the photoshoot.

  5. If breastfeeding, please avoid eating spicy food (ie. pizza, hot sauce, etc) or anything that will cause gas and might upset baby’s tummy for 24 hours preceding your scheduled session. A gassy baby will not pose well during the session due to their little tummy being upset. Also, avoid drinking caffeinated drinks before session, this can affect the restfulness of baby.

  6. Pacifier (This is optional). If baby normally does not take a pacifier, please ready it just in case. Photoshoot, posing and change outfit for a quick sessions are new to your baby and they often want self soothe by sucking more often than normal. The “soothie” pacifiers are best for newborns. Using a pacifier during a short session will not encourage bad habits - we promise!

  7. Interact with and keep baby awake for 1-2 hours before your session to ensure he/she is good and sleepy for the session.

  8. Temperature of the room is 28-30 °C ( For nursing moms, please wear comfortable clothes). Babies love to be in a warm environment as it was warm in mommy's tummy.  If room is too cold, baby might not be in the best mood for a photo shoot.

  9. Studio Noise- In order to more closely replicate the environment your baby enjoyed while in your belly, we’ll have background noise playing at all times. Calming shushing noise will be playing in order to keep your baby calm and relaxed.

  10. If other family members will watch / join the photoshoot, we suggest to maintain minimal crowd in the session area and minimize the noise. If kids are around, we suggest to let them in only after the solo shots of your baby.

  11. Taking personal pictures during the session is absolutely okay, but please avoid blocking the photographer so we can smoothly do our workflow.

  12. We also request you to have happy mood and be relaxed during the session. Babies generally respond to your energy and therefore the more relaxed and comfortable you are, the more chances of a successful baby session we can expect to have.

  13. Safety First! – It is important for you to know that there is the utmost importance placed on the safety of your baby. Poses will never be forced nor will any unsafe poses be used in any manner during the shoot. All linens used will be washed in free and clear detergent. We will not photograph your baby if we are sick.
