Frequently Asked Questions

Maternity Photography is the best way to remember this monumental time in your life. Maternity portraits are a fabulous and precious way to capture your changing body as you await the arrival of the new addition to your family.

Whether this is your first baby, or you are adding a new member to your family, a maternity session allows you to capture the emotions and love that you are feeling in the final months of your pregnancy. When the sleep deprivation kicks in and you can’t remember the last time that you had a shower, these images in your nursery will be a wonderful way to remember those feelings of love and joy that you felt before you even held your baby.

Here are the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) we often receive before a maternity photography session. This should give you a good overview of what to expect during the session.

However, please feel free to contact us if we have left any questions unanswered for you.

When should I book my  session?

To better serve our clients, we only book a limited number of sessions per month. As most of our clients are expectant mommies, we need to keep our schedule as flexible as possible.

Maternity sessions are best scheduled between 32 to 36 weeks of gestation to ensure that we don’t schedule too close to your due date, but that you are far enough along to have an amazingly full belly to show off!  Be sure to contact us by the end of your second trimester to secure availability on our calendar.

Both a signed contract and non-refundable downpayment (Php 4,000) are required to reserve your session.

Things to Think About Before Your Session :

  • Best time to schedule your maternity session is 34-36 weeks.  This is when you will have a nice little bump, but before you are too big to move comfortably.

  • Strongly consider having your hair and makeup done professionally.  If you do your own makeup, please make sure that it matches your natural skin tone.  Don’t put too much makeup on to cover up a blemish.  It is normally easier to correct a blemish in editing than to correct too much makeup :)

  • Pay close attention to your nails.  Many of the photographs will focus on your hands.  Consider treating yourself to a manicure and pedicure, or convince your partner to help spruce up your fingers and toes so that they look picture perfect!

  • Consider how you feel about varying levels of undress in your photographs, and the final look that you want in your pictures.  You need to feel comfortable enough to discuss this with your photographer.  Please don’t hesitate to tell me if you are not comfortable in a certain pose or with a certain body part uncovered.

  • pregnancy skirt that fits below the bump

  • favorite pregnancy outfit.  Avoid busy patterns on all clothing.

  • dark jeans and a plain colored shirt.

  • Dad can wear dark jeans and a coordinating shirt.  It does not have to match your shirt, but should be a coordinating color.

  • If older siblings are coming, they should coordinate with mom and dad.  Male siblings should be in dark jeans and a coordinating shirt, and females can be in dark jeans and shirts, or dresses to match mom or cute tutus, etc…  Cute t-shirts with older brother or sister are items to think about as well.

  • Anything that you can think of that you might want to use.  It is better to bring it and we don’t end up using it than the other way around.

What to Expect?

The session will last depends on the package you avail. Simple maternity session takes about 1 hour, additional 1 hour if we are doing Floral Milk Bath session too.

For hotel outdoor photoshoot, should you want to have few shots in the pool or garden area of hotel, you may need to secure permit / approval from the hotel management ahead of time. It will be a simple shoot only using 1 camera and no light set up. I'm with 1 assistant. Some hotels are very particular with these details.

How much does it cost?

Get detailed pricing information on Maternity Session packages by sending us a message through our Facebook Page.

Where will we hold the session? Do I come to your studio?

We are a mobile studio and we do on-location photoshoot. Maternity sessions can be held within your home (a room with lots of natural light will do), outdoor like park & garden, or hotel especially for floral milk bath.

Hair & Makeup

While always a treat, it is not necessary to have your hair & makeup professionally done for your photo session. If you are applying makeup yourself, it is always recommended to steer away from anything shiny (bronzer, glitter, etc.) when being photographed. A nice matte finish will come across best in photos. A little extra blush is good (but not too much!), and don’t forget the lipstick.

If you don’t usually wear make-up, that’s totally fine too. It still may be a good idea to lightly brush some translucent powder over your face before the session to avoid shine.

In many poses, I will have you look down at your belly. If you have long hair that may fall down across your eyes, I will tuck your hair behind your ear, or over your shoulder, in order to see your face. If this is an issue for you, please consider a hairstyle that will eliminate this problem.

Please don’t forget about your nails. If you have open-toed shoes, this is a great excuse to pamper yourself and get a pedicure! Believe me, nothing ruins a beautiful maternity portrait like chipped nails. If you are unable to get a mani/pedi, please just be sure to take off any old polish you may have left on before our session.

Partners & Siblings

As mentioned above, be sure that you are the star! Yes, it takes 2, but this is a maternity session and it’s all about you and your beautiful belly. Choose your outfit first, then dress your partner and other children in coordinating (but not competing) outfits. Neutral tones are best– tans, grays, blues, pinks (or other pastels) are great choices. Be mindful of busy clothing (no big logos, dinosaurs, trucks, balls, ballerinas, and statement shirts). These can be very distracting and will not be edited out after the session. If you have young girls, I suggest wearing little shorts under dresses.

Here is our What to Wear Guide for suggested outfit / color palette should your husband and kids want to join the photoshoot.

When other children are present, I will capture family shots, and mom with kid shots first. Then, I let them run off to play while we capture images of mom & dad, and mom alone. If other siblings are very young, I suggest having a family member or babysitter join to help watch them. Maternity posing is a little more involved than regular couple posing, and we don’t want to take away from this time.

Other useful tips :

  • Bring a water bottle in case you get thirsty

  • If there is a special baby item you’d like to include, please feel free to bring that as well

  • Relax, we’re going to have a great time!

How long will it take to get my order?

Raw photos will be ready for viewing and selection 3 to 5 days after the session. Please select photos immediately as we can only start editing/retouching when you advised us with selected photos. Your completed gallery will be ready for downloading within 3 weeks after selection was done. NOTE : Our turnaround time may vary during busy times of year.

Each images are carefully edited and requires a lot of work depending on what specific edit you wish us to refine. We deliver quality images, and so hand-editing for each images is crucial part of the post process.

However, we will provide you with one or two sneak peek images shortly after the session, so you have something to share with your family and friends immediately.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my session?

Sessions can only be rescheduled one time at no cost and still subject on availability of our calendar.

We are from outside Metro Manila. Do you travel?
